Look, I get it – nobody loves reading legal stuff. But as a fellow parent, I want you to know exactly how I handle your information because trust matters, especially when we’re talking about our families.
The Simple Version First
Here’s what you need to know: I collect minimal information to make this blog helpful for you, I never sell your data to anyone, and I protect your privacy like I’d protect my own family’s. If you want the detailed legal version, keep reading. If you have questions, email me directly at sarah@mealsfortoddlers.com.
Information I Collect (And Why I Need It)
When You Sign Up for Our Newsletter
What I collect: Your email address, first name (optional), and any specific toddler feeding challenges you mention. Why: So I can send you helpful recipes and tips, and occasionally respond personally to challenges you’ve shared. I use ConvertKit to manage our newsletter, and they’re GDPR compliant.
When You Comment on Recipes or Posts
What I collect: The name you provide, email address, and your comment content. Why: To display your comment and notify you of responses. Your email isn’t shown publicly, just your name and comment.
When You Contact Me Directly
What I collect: Whatever you choose to share – email address, your child’s age, feeding challenges, recipe questions. Why: To respond helpfully to your specific situation. These emails are stored in my business email system and aren’t shared with anyone.
Website Analytics (The Technical Stuff)
What I collect: How you use the site – which pages you visit, how long you stay, what device you’re using, general location (city/state level). Why: To understand what content helps parents most and improve the site. I use Google Analytics with anonymized IP addresses. Your choice: You can opt out using browser settings or privacy extensions.
Cookies (Not the Edible Kind)
What they do: Remember your preferences (like if you want metric measurements), keep you logged in, and help the site work properly. Types I use:
- Essential cookies (make the site function)
- Analytics cookies (understand site usage)
- Preference cookies (remember your choices)
You can control these in your browser settings, though some are necessary for the site to work properly.
How I Use Your Information
Newsletter subscribers: You get my weekly recipe emails, occasional feeding tips, and very rarely (maybe twice a year) information about new resources I create. You can unsubscribe anytime with one click.
Recipe comments: Your comments help other parents, and I sometimes respond with additional tips or ask follow-up questions.
Personal emails: I respond personally to every question or challenge you share. Sometimes your (anonymous) question inspires a blog post that helps other families.
Analytics data: I use this to understand which content helps families most, what technical issues need fixing, and how to improve the site.
What I DON’T do: Sell your information, share it with marketers, or use it for anything unrelated to helping families with toddler feeding.
Data Protection & Security
I take your privacy seriously (as seriously as I take food safety in my own kitchen). Here’s what I do to protect your information:
- Secure hosting: The site uses SSL encryption (that’s the little lock in your browser)
- Limited access: Only I have access to your personal information
- Regular updates: All software and security measures are kept current
- Secure email: Business email is hosted with encrypted, business-grade providers
- Data minimization: I only collect what’s actually needed to help you
Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA Compliant)
No matter where you live, you have rights regarding your personal information:
Access: Want to know what information I have about you? Email me at sarah@mealsfortoddlers.com and I’ll tell you.
Correction: If I have incorrect information, let me know and I’ll fix it immediately.
Deletion: Want me to delete your information? I’ll remove it from all systems within 30 days. (Note: I might need to keep some records for legal/tax purposes, but I’ll minimize what’s kept.)
Portability: Want your data in a format you can use elsewhere? I’ll export it for you.
Objection: Don’t want me to use your information for something? Let me know and I’ll stop.
Unsubscribe: One-click unsubscribe in every email, or email me directly.
To exercise any of these rights, email me at privacy@mealsfortoddlers.com . I’ll respond within 72 hours.
Third-Party Services (The Tools I Use)
ConvertKit (Newsletter): Stores email addresses and names for newsletter delivery. They’re GDPR compliant and don’t sell data.
Google Analytics: Tracks anonymized site usage to help me improve content. You can opt out using browser settings.
WordPress/Hosting Provider: The technical infrastructure that runs the site. All data is encrypted and secured.
Social Media: If you interact with our Facebook group or Instagram, those platforms have their own privacy policies.
Email Provider: Business email is hosted with privacy-focused, encrypted providers.
I carefully vet all third-party services for privacy compliance and data security. I don’t use services that sell data or have poor privacy practices.
Children’s Privacy (Extra Important)
This site is designed for parents and caregivers, not children under 13. I don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you’re under 13, please have your parent or guardian use the site.
If I discover I’ve accidentally collected information from a child under 13, I’ll delete it immediately. If you’re a parent concerned about this, contact me right away at sarah@mealsfortoddlers.com.
International Users
I’m based in Austin, Texas, but I welcome parents from everywhere. If you’re outside the US:
- Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States
- I comply with GDPR for EU visitors
- You have the same privacy rights regardless of location
- All the same protections apply to your information
Changes to This Policy
If I need to update this privacy policy, I’ll:
- Post the new version on this page with a new date
- Email newsletter subscribers about significant changes
- Give you time to review changes before they take effect
I’ll never make changes that are worse for your privacy without giving you the option to opt out first.
Data Retention (How Long I Keep Information)
Newsletter subscribers: Until you unsubscribe, plus 30 days for processing Comments: Indefinitely (they’re public and help other parents), but you can request removal Personal emails: I keep them to remember your feeding challenges and provide consistent help, but you can request deletion Analytics: Google Analytics automatically deletes data after 26 months Business records: Some information may be kept for legal/tax requirements (7 years max)

My Personal Privacy Commitment
As a mom, I understand how precious our family’s privacy is. I treat your information the way I’d want my own treated – with respect, care, and the minimum necessary for providing helpful content.
I don’t share your information with marketers, I don’t sell data, and I don’t use your personal details for anything beyond helping you feed your family better. That’s a personal promise from one parent to another.
Questions about anything in this policy? I’m always happy to explain in plain English what any of this means for you and your family.
This privacy policy complies with GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable privacy laws. For specific legal questions, please consult with a qualified attorney.
